Dragon Club 12, Redwings 5

As the SCHL playoffs near, Dragon Club and the CT. Redwings continue to fight for the fourth and final seed. DC increased their chances of securing that spot on Monday night as they defeated the Redwings 12-5.

DC forward Kyle Tyll opened the scoring at the 12:54 mark of the first period and another goal was quickly added by forward Karl Mauhs as their team took a 2-0 lead.

Redwings forward Nick Sylvestre then fired back with a goal at the 8:35 mark to get his team on the board. DC then put a stop to any momentum that the Wings were beginning to create as they would score the next 4 goals to take a 6-1 lead heading into the second period.

Goals were scored by forwards TJ Schatz who added a pair, Paul Dow, and Steve Rosenkrantz.

Forward Augie DiMarzo then added another goal for DC as they increased the lead and began to put the game out of reach. Forward Blake Barone attempted to get the Redwings back in the game after scoring a goal at the 13:42 mark of the second period.

Schatz then responded for DC with his third of the night to complete the hat-trick and put the score at 8-2. Redwing forwards Mike Nutcher, Brian Roche, and Shawn Nutcher then scored three consecutive goals to cut the lead down to 8-5, but these would be the last goals that their team would score during the game.

Jason Szerszen made 20 saves for Dragon Club, and Anthony Avitable made17 saves for the Redwings.
