Redwings 10, Hamden Sport 4

Wings pick up 2 pts. to remain in 4th place. - 3/8/11

Hamden,CT.

The CT. Redwings defeated Hamden Sport Tuesday night by a score of 10-4 to earn another 2 pts. in the SCHL standings and keep their playoff hopes alive.

Redwing forwards Brian Roche and Lloyd Jacques combined for 3 first period goals to take an early lead. Hamden Sport forward Greg Cassista responded with a pair of his own to cut the lead down to 3-2 going into the second period.

Roche then scored his third goal of the game to complete the hat-trick at the 11:04 mark of the second and sparked another 4 consecutive goals to be scored by the Redwings. Roche recorded 3 goals and 2 assists during the game.

Goals were scored by Mike Nutcher, Shawn Nutcher, Ross Hemming, and Jacques scored his second of the night as the score increased to 8-2.

Looking to generate some offense, Hamden Sport began to create some quality scoring chances in the third period and received two goals from forwards Sean Whelan and John Twohill who finished the night with 3 pts.

Despite their efforts, the Redwings turned away all other opportunities that Hamden Sport put on net.  The Redwings would go on to add one more tally to the board on a goal by forward Ben Castiline who finished the night with 1 goal and 3 assists.

Scott Wagner made 26 saves for the Redwings, and Joe Woznek made 18 saves for Hamden Sport.
