Hamden,CT.

In their first meeting since last season, Chip's and the CT. Redwings would skate in a back and forth battle Sunday night that saw no shortage of goals being scored.

The Redwings were quick to find the back of net when forward Blake Barone scored 27 seconds into the game on an unassisted goal to take a 1-0 lead. Chip's forward Bryan Leitch would respond with a goal just 40 seconds later off an assist from forward Tyler Hancock to tie the game a 1-1. Both teams would continue to score goals one right after the other. Forward Shawn Nutcher scored his first goal of the night assisted by Barone to put the Redwings back in the lead, but not for long as Chip's would fire right back on a goal from defenseman Jay Pemberton assisted by Leitch and forward Brett Dickinson.

Now tied 2-2, offensive pressure continued to be applied on each side of the ice. Shawn Nutcher added another tally for the Redwings after taking a pass from forward Brooks Hemming and putting a shot past Chip's goaltender Chris Groleau. Forward Scott Page quickly tied the game again when he receieved a pass from defenseman Andy Meyer and beat Redwings goaltender Anthony Avitable to put the score at 3-3 heading into the second period.

The fast pace of the game continued and scoring opportunities kept coming from both teams. Redwings forward Brooks Hemming was called for hooking 3 minutes into the second period which sent Chip's on the powerplay. The Redwings killed off the penalty but Chip's would score shortly after when Pemberton would score his second goal of the night unassisted at the 10:17 mark to put his team ahead 4-3. This would also be another lead that was short lived during the game as the Redwings responded with an unassisted goal from forward Ben Castiline to tie the game at 4-4.

Forward Mike Ramprashad added another tally for Chip's after taking a pass from Pemberton in front of the net and putting a shot past Avitable. The period would end in a 5-5 tie after forward Nick Sylvestre scored for the Redwings with 3:43 remaining.

Now into the third, things would take a turn in favor of Chip's as they would go on to score 4 goals during the period. Page scored his second goal of the night assisted by Leitch, and Ramprashad also recorded his second goal of the game with assists going to Page and Hancock to give Chip's a 7-5 lead. Castiline would attempt to turn things back around for the Redwings by scoring his second goal assisted by Brooks Hemming and defenseman Dan Roche, but Chip's would quickly receive another 2 goals from forward Charlie Dohn and Hancock.

Trailing 9-6 late in the third period, the Redwings would score one more time with 39 seconds left to play as Barone scored his second goal of the game, assisted by Sylvestre and defenseman Ross Hemming. Avitable was pulled from his net to add an extra forward on the ice but the Redwings were unable to score as Chip's shut down any last chances against them.

Chris Groleau made 25 saves for Chip's, and Anthony Avitable made 24 saves for the Redwings.
