The Chip's hockey team defeated Dragon Club 11-4 Wednesday night to advance to the SCHL finals and face the New Haven Mustangs.

Dragon Club came out flying and took a 3-0 lead in the first period on goals from forwards Kyle Tyll, Steve Novodor, and Tory Jacob. Chip's forward Mario Capobianco scored with 3:36 remaining in the first to put his team on the board and the score at 3-1 heading into the second period.

To start off the second, Chip's were on the powerplay after Todd Forselius was called for roughing at the end of the first period. No goal was scored on the powerplay but shortly after the penalty had ended, forward Nick Mastracchio took a cross ice pass from defenseman Mike Bordieri, and then left a drop pass for forward Scott Page who scored on a one timer beating DC goaie Jason Szerszen. DC had opportunities to score on the powerplay on 2 separate occasions but couldn't capitalize on either. The first chance was after defenseman Jay Pemberton was called for interference and DC would have a 5 on 4 man advantage, and then again two minutes later when both Pemberton and defenseman Andy Meyer ended up in the penalty box putting DC on a 5 on 3 powerplay. Chip's killed each penalty and would go on to score another 6 goals to put the score at  8-3.

Facing a 5 goal deficit in the third period, DC would score once more after forward Sean Whelan beat Chip's goalie Chris Groleau to put the score at 8-4. This would be the final bit of offense to be generated by DC, as Chip's would score three more times in the third period. Mastracchio scored 4 goals and had 1 assist, and Page tallied 2 goals and 3 assists.

Szerszen made 31 saves, with Groleau making 27 saves. Chip's will play the Mustangs tonight at 10pm in the finals for the SCHL Championship.
