In a game with the 1st seed in the playoffs on the line, one could have only thought this matchup would go right down to the wire. However, such was not the case on Friday night when the Chip's hockey team blew out the New Haven Mustangs by a final score of 17-4, the most goals allowed by any team in the league thus far in a single game. Embarassing on one side to say the least, and payback on the other from Chip's after losing twice against the Mustangs earlier in the season.

Chip's took control of the game early and remained relentless throughout all three periods. Charlie Dohn had a natural hat trick in the first period and scored once more to finish the game with 4 goals and 3 assists. Tyler Hancock tallied the same amount of points as Dohn in similar fashion, 4 goals, 3 assists. Mario Capobianco placed himself on the scoresheet with 2 goals and 4 helpers to earn the 3rd star of the game.

The Mustangs would receive goals from forwards Sean Donohue,Craig Cushing, and Mike Pomichter. Defenseman Paul Wiggin also added one goal. Each team had opportunities to go on the powerplay and capitalized on 3 of them. Chip's recorded 2 powerplay goals, while the Mustangs had 1.

Chris Groleau made 31 saves for Chip's, and Dan Ells made 21 for the Mustangs. Chip's will face the winner of this Sunday nights game between the CT. Redwings and Dragon Club with a time and date to be determined.
