Hamden,CT.

With last night's 14-3 win over Dragon Club, Chip's now moves into a first place tie with the New Mustangs with one game remaining in their schedule. That game just so happens to be against the Mustangs on Friday night at 8:30pm and will decide who will get the first seed in the playoffs. This also has placed the third seed up for grabs between DC and the CT. Redwings which will play the final game of the regular season this Sunday night at 10:15pm. Both games will be played at the Hamden Rink.

The opening minutes of the first period seemed to be evenly matched in terms of puck possession, but at the 9 minute mark, forward Chris Meyers tapped in a rebound off a shot from forward Mike Ramprashad to give Chip's a 1-0. Less than a minute later, defenseman Jake Bauer skated into the offensive zone and left a drop pass for defenseman Jay Pemberton who fired a slap shot into the top right corner. Forward Bryan Leitch had 3 assists on the night with the his first coming off a play in which he found defenseman Andy Meyer in the slot for a one timer to go up 3-0. Chips would receive two more goals in the first period from forward Mario Capobianco, and Chris Meyers who finished the night with 4 goals.

Trailing 5-0 to start off the second period, things would continue to get worse for DC which struggled to generate any kind of offense for much of the game. Chip's forward Tyler Hancock who recorded 2 goals and 3, assists, found the back of the net a minute into the period off a shot from the top of the left face-off circle with an assist going to forward Scott Page. Bauer scored next on a breakaway on assists from Page and forward Nick Mastracchio to take a 7-0 lead. Another 4 goals by Chip's from Hancock, Ramprashad, Meyers, and Pemberton would put the score at 11-1 to finish the second period. DC defenseman Erik Forselius scored the lone goal of the period for his team after putting in a rebound to the left side of Chip's goalie Chris Groleau. Forwards Sean Whelan and Steve Novodor assisted on the goal.

Despite trailing by a large deficit, DC did manage to create a lot of good scoring opportunities but couldn't capitalize on their chances. Chris Meyers scored in the first few minutes of the third period on an assist from Chip's defenseman Mike Bordieri. Chip's would go on to receive 2 more goals from Andy Meyer, and Mastracchio to finish with 14, while DC would tally 2 goals from defenseman Jay Rothfuss on assists from forward Will Rothfuss and  defenseman Dave Sagnella, and forward Todd Forselius scored on a breakaway with and assist going to Novodor.

Jason Szerszen made 28 saves for Dragon Club, and Chris Groleau had 26 saves for Chip's. The SCHL playoffs are set to take place next week with the semi-fnals on Tuesday at 10pm, Wednesday at 9:45pm, and the finals on Thursday at 10pm.
