Chris Meyers goal and 5 assists lead team to victory. - 11/28/10

Hamden,CT.

After being defeated by the CT. Redwings 10-5 in their previous meeting, Chip's responded with a 13-4 win Sunday night to avenge their loss. Forward Chris Meyers scored 1 goal and had 5 assists in a game which saw multiple players recording more than 2 points a piece.

The Redwings would open the scoring 3 minutes into the game on a goal from forward Ben Castiline who received a pass from forward Doug Henrici in the slot and fired the puck past Chip's goalie Chris Groleau. Chip's defensman Andy Meyer would quickly go on to tie the game when forward Tyler Hancock passed him the puck at the point, and found the back of the net on a high shot that beat Redwings goalie Anthony Avitable. Defenseman Mike Bordieri would score in similar fashion a mere 18 seconds later to take the lead 2-1 on an unassisted goal. The Redwings came out flying, but could not contain the Chip's offense after this point. Meyers would tally his first of 5 assists when he hit Hancock with a pass in front of the net who then scored on a one timer to go uo 3-1.  Chips would score once more during the first on a goal from defenseman Jake Bauer to take a 4-1 lead heading into the second.

Much of the second period remained equal as both teams played competitive and making very few mistakes. Forward Scott Page was called for a hooking penalty at the 9:25 mark to send the Redwings on the powerplay. Despite numerous scoring opportunities, Groleau turned away everything the Redwings were able to throw at him. No goals would be scored until late in the period when Chip's forward Bryan Leitch skated into the offensive zone and made a drop pass to forward Charlie Dohn who quickly dished the puck to Andy Meyer at the corner of the net for a tip in to finish a beautiful play. Andy Meyer recorded 2 goals and 2 assists during the game, while Dohn finished with a total of 4 assists. Chip's forward Nick Mastracchio scored 2 of his 3 goals during the second with Chris Meyers and Page assisting on both of them to give his team a 7-1 lead. The Redwings were able to get up on the board once again before the end of the period on a slap shot above the right face-off circle from forward Ralph Difonzo. The goal was assisted by defensman Nick Slyvestre to put the score at 7-2.

With a 5 goal lead, Chip's still remained relentless in their attack and managed to score another 6 goals. Chris Meyers, Hancock, defensman Jay Pemberton, Mastracchio, Bauer and forward Mike Ramprashad would each record a goal a piece during the third period. Ramprashad scored his first of the season on another nice setup from Dohn and Chris Meyers. Dohn took a pass from Meyers, head into the zone on a 2 on 1 and fed Ramprashad with a saucer pass who then finished with a quick shot on the ice past Avitable, Still determined to score, the Redwings would receive goals from forward Shawn Nutcher who scored on a 2 on 0 after taking  pass from Difonzo, and forward Brian Roche would score on a rebound off a shot from forward Blake Barone. This would be the 4th and final goal of the game for the Redwings.

Groleau finished the night with 25 saves for Chip's , while Avitable would finish with 33. Chip's still remain in second place with a record of 4-3 and 8pts., and the Redwings remain in 4th with 4 pts. and a record of 2-5.
