High School & Youth Hockey Spring League - Rules

Game Play

 

All players parent or guardian are required to sign and submit a waiver form to the league before playing in their first game.

3 minute warm-up with music.

Three 15 minute periods, stop time.

5 minute OT.

Three player shootout if necessary.

8 goal lead running time mercy rule.

2 Referees and 1 scorekeeper per game.

Each team is allowed to take one 30 second time-out per game.

Rules

 

High School & Youth Hockey Rules.

Matching jerseys and socks required. Players without either or will receive a 2 minute minor at the start of the game.

2 referees, 1 scorekeeper at each game.

25 skaters and 4 goalies max. per team.

Players ( including goaltenders ) can only play on one team per division each season.

5 skaters, 1 goalie minimum per team per game to avoid forfeit.

A goalie must be in net to avoid forfeit.

Teams not on the ice and lined up at the face-off circle within 5 minutes after the three minute warm up has ended will receive a forfeit.

In the event that a goaltender is running late, teams will be allowed to play with 6 skaters for the first 5 minutes of the game.

Teams without a goaltender on the ice by the 10 minute mark of the 1st period will forfeit the game.

Teams that forfeit receive an automatic loss, 2 points deducted in the standings, and no one on their roster receives credit for a game played. The opposing team receives a win and their entire roster receives credit for a game played despite not appearing in the stats section.

When a goaltender starts the game on time, the only exception to skating with 6 skaters is when a team chooses to pull their goalie during the game, or if a goalie is injured and cannot return to the game.

All rostered skaters are also allowed to play in net with goalie gear if a team's goaltender cannot complete the game due to injury.

Pickup skate will take place if a game is forfeited.

 

Rosters & Playoff Eligiblity

 

Rosters will be finalized after each team has played 7 games. No additional players except goalies may be added after that time.

Goalies can be added as needed.

Each player must play in a minimum of 4 games to be eligible for playoffs.

Goalies are not required to play a minimum amount of games to be eligible for playoffs.

 

Teams that break any of the league rules will forfeit their game or games if a rule is found to have been broken prior to the league being notified.

 

Penalties & Suspensions

 

No more than 2 players per team will be penalized for being out of uniform at the start of a game ( 5 on 3 ).

Additional players per team that are out of uniform will serve a 2 minute minor at the beginning of the next period.

 

No fighting.

Dropping the gloves without punching will result in a suspension.

All fighting and intent to injure incidents will be handled by the league with suspensions and/or league ban being issued at the discretion of the league commissioner based on the severity of the incident.

Teams and players suspended and/or banned from the league will NOT receive a refund.

A player receiving 3 penalties in one game will result in a game misconduct, as well as a game suspension.

Any team that receives 8 penalties in one game will be sent off the ice, receive an automatic forfeit, and 2 points deducted in the standings.

Verbal abuse of a referee or scorekeeper will result in a game misconduct. A suspension and/or league ban may be issued depending on the severity of the incident.

Physically assaulting a referee or scorekeeper will result in a league ban.


This is a NO-NONSENSE LEAGUE, please respect each rule in effort to keep our games as safe, competitive, and fun as possible.
